The theme: Coloring books generally have a theme of sorts. It might be that they are based on a Disney movie, or it is about animals, or vehicles, or something else. When selecting books for your children, remember that they will want to express their creativity, and will have a lot of fun with any coloring book, but will be more interested in a coloring booklet with a theme that appeals to them. Choose a color book that features their favorite characters, or the item of interest in their life. For example, if your little boy just loves trains, get a Thomas the Train coloring book. If your little girl is as girly as they come, look for the Disney Princess coloring book, or possibly Strawberry Shortcake. So now to answer the how. And trust me; it's not as far-fetched as you may think. While the Internet is a fantastic place to watch videos, keep in touch with old friends, listen to new music, network, or participate in any number of other legal or otherwise illegal activities, it is an even better when utilized as a parental resource centre. And this is where our free colouring pages come in. How many times have you wished you had something new and handy to entertain you kids while you try to (insert any chore here) do the dishes, laundry, vacuum, etc... It takes you time to make time to spend that time. What a complete waste of time! The solution you ask? Open a webpage, Google a search, print off your find, and you're done. Your children will be more then occupied for the remainder of the time you need! The beauty of the Internet is in the resources it holds; every time, you can find something new. Are your children tired of drawing sea creatures? Print off farm animals. Are they not interested in drawing? Then print them out some word puzzles such as jumbles or crosswords. The point is, parents should look beyond the obvious functions the Internet provides and start using the web as the tool it can be in order to maximize their time. In truth, the vastness of the Internet and the multitude of resources available can be the true time-saver for parents. Sometimes he really just loses himself in the work and goes quiet, determined to do good and his hand eye concentration has really come on in leaps and bounds. He seems to have quickly learned that by going slower his accuracy improves and things are easier overall, a great little lesson for life there! He is too young yet to start trying to sign his name on his work so I ask him to draw me his face as a signature and he always does so with a big smile on it, which tells me he had a good time working on it! I have a ton of scrapbooks now, all filled with his completed pages. I suspect I will love looking through these when I am older. The rest will go up on the walls of the house, mostly in the lounge or conservatory I imagine. By showing them off proudly I want to make clear to my boy how precious they are to me. By this I am hoping to build his self-confidence which was something I still suffer a lack of, so am keen to give my son the best head start in life that I can. When we get visitors to the house, whether friends or family you can also be sure they will comment on the artworks and tell my son what a great job he did. It seems to be having a good effect to as he has started to become more outgoing and will talk to near strangers now about his works, whats colors he used etc. Whereas before he would have been quiet with some folks, now he often offers to make them one straight away so they can take it home with them!
